When it comes to cleaning toothpaste stains from silk, the best way to go about it is with simple household items. Start by dampening a cloth with lukewarm water and gently blotting at the stain. Avoid rubbing too hard as this could cause damage to the fabric. If the stain is still visible, mix up a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar and dab it onto the stain. Let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
Once the stain has been removed, it’s important to ensure the item of clothing is completely dry. The best way to do this is to allow the garment to air-dry naturally away from direct sunlight (the sun’s rays may cause the fabric to fade). If you need the item to dry quickly, you can use a hairdryer on a low heat setting. Once the item is completely dry you can steam iron it to get rid of any remaining wrinkles.
If you’re dealing with a stubborn stain, you should opt for a commercial cleaning product. However, be sure to read product label carefully, as some chemical-based cleaners can be damaging to silk fabric. If possible, opt for a natural enzyme cleaner that’s specifically designed for delicate fabrics.
