The first step to getting rid of the stain is to soak the fabric in cold water and laundry detergent. Allow the fabric to remain submerged for at least 15 minutes. If stain is particularly stubborn and has been there for a while, you may have to leave the fabric in the washing solution overnight.
Once the stain begins to lift and lose its grip on the fabric fibers, it is time to move on to the next step of removing it completely. Remove the garment from the soapy water and wring it. Put it in the washing machine with a fresh liquid detergent, and wash the fabric according to the care label instructions. You may need to run the garment through two or three cycles to ensure that the stain is completely gone.
Once washing cycle is complete, it is important that you hang the garment out to dry. Avoid using the dryer as it may cause the stain to set in and become impossible to remove. Make sure the fabric is completely dry before you wear it.
If the stain still persists, you may need to launder the garment more rigorously. Depending on the fabric content, you can use bleach or a color-safe bleach alternative. Follow the instructions on the package closely. For colored fabrics, choose a product that is designed to whiten colors without fading them.
Toothpaste stains on scrubs can be a persistent problem for those in the dental profession. However, with the right knowledge, these stains can be removed swiftly and permanently. It just takes a little bit of extra effort, but at the end of day, it will ensure that your scrubs remain looking as pristine as when you first bought them.
