Removing Toothpaste Stains

Toothpaste stains, caused by the combination of calcium and outer coatings, can be a bit tricky to remove from satin fabric. You must act quickly to remove the stain, or it could set in permanently.

  1. Begin by blotting the stain with a white cloth or sponge to remove any excess toothpaste.
  2. Rinse area with cold water.
  3. Mix a small amount of baking soda with a few drops of distilled white vinegar. Rub solution into the stained area using a white cloth or sponge, then rinse with cold water.
  4. If the stain remains, apply a few drops of hydrogen peroxide directly to the stain and allow it to sit for several minutes. Rinse with cold water.
  5. If the stain persists, make a paste of equal parts mild laundry detergent and hydrogen peroxide and rub it into the stain with a soft-bristled scrub brush. Let it sit for approximately 15 minutes, then rinse with cold water.
  6. Allow the fabric to air-dry in a well-ventilated area.
