When toothpaste stains find their way onto a prized purse, it can be annoying and tricky to remove. Whether it’s an accidental squirt or a child’s mess, toothpaste is proven to be one of the most tenacious materials that can make a less than pleasant mark on almost any type of fabric. But don’t worry— we’ve got your back! Here’s some tips for getting those toothpaste smears off surface of your bag:
- For leather purses, start with a gentle solution of warm water and a mild soap, such as a dish detergent or shampoo. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and very lightly dab the stain. Make sure not to rub, since this could damage the leather.
- If the marking remains, try mixing a tablespoon of white vinegar with some warm water and dabbing the stain with a soft cloth. Be sure to let area completely dry after treatment.
- For canvas and vinyl bags, mix a solution of warm water and a mild detergent and dab the stain, again, without scrubbing. Depending on the fabric, you may need to use a brush to gently lift stain.
- If stubborn spots remain, try using baking soda as a natural cleaning agent. Make a paste by combining a teaspoon of baking soda with a small amount of water and apply directly to the stain. Let sit for a few minutes and then rinse with a damp cloth.
With these easy tips, you’ll be able to quickly remove any toothpaste smudges from your precious purse!
