Dealing with toothpaste stains on your pullover can be a hassle. Toothpaste contains a lot of abrasive materials, as well as some bleach-like whitening agents that can leave your pullover looking worse than it did before. Luckily, you don't have to throw away your favorite sweaters and sweatshirts. Follow these easy steps to get rid of your unsightly toothpaste stains.

What You'll Need

  • A small bowl
  • Salt
  • White vinegar
  • A soft cloth
  • Liquid laundry detergent or stain remover

Step 1: Make a Paste

Mix a spoonful of salt with some white vinegar to make a paste. Rub it onto the toothpaste stain and let it sit for 10 minutes. The abrasive salt and vinegar combo will loosen and break up the stain.

Step 2: Scrub the Stain

Take a soft cloth, dip it into the paste, and start scrubbing the stain. Use circular motions to gently work the paste into the fabric, and keep adding more paste if needed. You may need to repeat this step several times until the stain fades away.

Step 3: Rinse the Pullover

Once the stain is gone, rinse the pullover with cold water. This will remove any residue from the paste.

Step 4: Apply Detergent

If the stain is still there, apply a bit of liquid laundry detergent or stain remover. Make sure to use a detergent that is safe for the fabric of your pullover. Leave it on for five minutes and then rinse with cold water.

Step 5: Let it Dry

Lay the pullover out flat on a towel and let it air dry completely. Do not put it in dryer as this could cause any remaining stain to set.
