Things You'll Need

  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar
  • Liquid detergent
  • Oxygen bleach
  • Soft cloths or an old toothbrush

Step 1: Make a Paste with Baking Soda and Vinegar

Start by mixing together baking soda and white vinegar until you form a paste. Apply this paste directly to the toothpaste stain and allow it to sit for at least 15 minutes.

Step 2: Scrub the Stain

Once the paste has had a chance to set, use a soft cloth or an old toothbrush to scrub the paste into the fabric. This will help break up the stain and loosen it from fabric.

Step 3: Wash the Polo Shirt in the Machine

Next, launder the polo shirt in the washing machine using warm water and a liquid detergent. Don’t use any other laundry products, like fabric softener, as these can make the stain worse.

Step 4: Apply Oxygen Bleach

Before drying the shirt, apply a small amount of oxygen bleach to the stain and let it stand for 5 minutes. This will help break down any remaining stain particles.

Step 5: Dry Polo Shirt

Finally, machine dry your shirt on the lowest setting or air dry if preferred. If the stain is still visible after washing, repeat process until stain is completely removed.

Tips

  • If the stain is still present after the first try, try soaking shirt in warm water and a tablespoon of liquid detergent for 30 minutes before repeating the cleaning process.
  • Be sure not to scrub too hard as this can damage the fabric.
