1. Test the Fabric

The first step in removing toothpaste stains is to check fabric you’re dealing with. Check the label, or test a small hidden area of the fabric, to make sure that it is safe to use any of the cleaning solutions suggested below.

2. Prepare a Cleaning Solution

Once you’ve determined that the fabric is safe to use with cleaning solutions, you’ll need to create one. The best option for cleaning toothpaste stains from lace is to prepare a mixture of equal parts ammonia and water in a clean container. Alternatively, if you don’t have access to ammonia, you can create a solution of 1 tablespoon of clear dishwashing liquid, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, and 2 cups of warm water.

3. Soak Lace

Once you’ve created your cleaning solution, you’ll need to soak the affected area of the lace in it for 10 to 15 minutes. If necessary, you can use a soft bristled brush or a toothbrush to gently scrub out any remaining stain residue. Do not use excessive force, as this could damage the delicate fabric of the lace.

4. Rinse & Dry

After soaking the area, rinse the lace with cold water and then allow it to air dry. Hang it up to avoid heavy wrinkles from forming. Once it is dry, you should find that toothpaste stain has been successfully removed.
