No one likes cleaning up messes, but it's a necessary chore. Cleaning up toothpaste stains can be a daunting task if you don’t know what kind of cleaning solution to use. Fortunately, there are methods for removing these stubborn stains with simple ingredients that you already have around the house.

Removing Toothpaste from Plastic Utensils

If you have a toothpaste stain on plastic utensils, like spatulas or ladles, here is how you can get rid of it.

  1. First, mix 1/4 cup of baking soda and 1/3 cup of water together.
  2. Others may suggest using white vinegar, but avoid using this as vinegar can easily damage plastic.
  3. Gently rub the mixture onto the affected area using a soft cloth until the toothpaste is loosened.
  4. Rinse the residue away.
  5. Fill a large bowl with hot water and add a teaspoon of dishwashing detergent to it.
  6. Soak the utensil in the bowl for 15 minutes.
  7. Wash utensil off using a rag and warm water.

Removing Toothpaste from Metal Utensils

If your metal utensils, such as spoons or forks, have been stained by toothpaste, try the following cleaning method:

  1. Mix 1/4 cup of baking soda with 1/3 cup of hot water to form a thick paste.
  2. Apply the paste to stain and scrub gently with a soft brush.
  3. Rinse the paste off with warm water.
  4. To completely remove the stain, make a mixture of 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 1 teaspoon of salt in a small bowl.
  5. Dip a soft-bristled toothbrush into the solution and scrub the toothpaste stain.
  6. Rinse the silverware off with warm water and let dry.

Preventing Toothpaste Stains

The best way to prevent toothpaste stains is to use a washcloth or a damp rag to wipe down the utensils after you finish brushing your teeth. This will help keep your kitchen utensils cleaner for longer.
