Toothpaste is a very convenient and effective way to keep your teeth clean, but it unfortunately causes an unpleasant sight when it gets on clothing. It is important to act quickly when cleaning toothpaste stains, because they become harder to get rid of as they dry. However, if you react fast and use the correct methods, it's possible to get rid of even those stubborn stains.
Before you start attempting to remove the stain, it is important to test whether the material of the clothing is colorfast by applying the remover or cleaning solution to a small, discrete area. If the colors fade or discolor, then the material is not colorfast and the cleaning method should be changed.
Now that you know your garment is colorfast, you can start treating stain with a stain remover. Spray or apply generous amounts of the cleaner onto the stained area and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes. After it has been allowed time to work, use a clean cloth to rub the stained area vigorously in a circular motion. Repeat this process until the stain has vanished.
Once you are satisfied that the stain has been sufficiently treated, it is time to wash the item of clothing. Check the care tag on your Hollister clothing to determine the best way to wash it; if you're unsure, it is best to hand-wash it in cold water with a mild detergent. Let the fabric soak for at least 15 minutes before wringing it out gently.
After the item of clothing has been washed, you should then dry it. If you want to save energy and avoid using the tumble dryer, hang the garment up to air-dry. To reduce static and soften the fabric, some people swear by placing a dryer sheet into the washing machine or dryer with the garment.
