The most important step in cleaning up a toothpaste stain from a headband is to use only cold water. Hot or warm water can cause fabric of the headband to shrink, stretching the fibers and making them lose shape. To start, fill a bowl with cold water and add a dab of soap. Stir gently until the soap is diluted. Dip the stained area of the headband into the cold soapy water and let it soak for several minutes.

Once it has had a chance to soak, gently scrub the stain with a soft bristled brush or sponge, being careful to move fabric in a circular motion. This will help break up any ground-in grime that may have accumulated. After you are done scrubbing, rinse the headband thoroughly with cold water. Repeat these steps until toothpaste stain has been completely removed.

If some of the stain still remains, you can try using a stain remover for tough fabrics. Make sure to test this product on a small, inconspicuous area of the headband before using it on the stained area. Once you have tested it, apply stain remover directly onto the toothpaste stain and work it into fabric with a soft brush. After a few minutes, rinse headband once more with cold water. Dry it flat with a towel or air-dry it.

By following these simple steps, you'll be able to easily and safely remove any toothpaste stains from your favorite headbands. Keep in mind that while these methods should work, always remember to test on a small area first before attempting to clean the entire headband.
