Using a spoon or dull knife, gently scrape away any dried-on toothpaste without pressing too hard. Take care not to spread the stain. Once majority of the toothpaste has been removed, you can use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe away remainder.
Mix together a solution of warm water, dish soap, and a bit of white vinegar. Use a soft cloth or sponge to apply the solution to the stained area. Gently scrub in a circular motion to remove any remaining residue. Be sure to rinse the fabric thoroughly afterwards.
Once the majority of the toothpaste is gone, fill a bucket or sink with warm water, then add a bit of laundry detergent. Soak the fleece for 15 minutes, then rub a soft brush over area to loosen any remaining particles. Rinse out the fleece until water runs clear.
Once the stain is gone, place the fleece in washing machine with a mild detergent. Set the machine to the “delicate” or “gentle” cycle and wash on cold. When the cycle is complete, dry the fleece according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Do not put the item in the dryer until you are certain the stain is gone.
With patience and the right cleaning products, it is possible to remove toothpaste stains from most fabrics, including fleece. Follow the above steps to restore your garment—you may even want to practice these methods on a scrap piece of fabric before attempting on the actual garment.
