Getting Rid of Stubborn Toothpaste Stains from Cotton Twill

Use a Stain Remover Sprayer

One of the most effective techniques is to use a stain remover sprayer. These are available in supermarkets or online and give you the right combination of water, detergent, and surfactant to get rid of the stain. Before spraying the affected area, be sure to read the instructions on the bottle carefully and test out a small area first on an inconspicuous part of the garment.

Soak with Stain Remover

If a sprayer is not available, you can create a solution from several household ingredients such as vinegar, liquid detergent, and baking soda. Simply mix these ingredients together into a paste and gently rub it onto the stained area. Leave it for about 15 minutes before rinsing off with plain water.

Try a Commercial Stain Remover

Commercial stain removers are also available at many grocery stores and cleaning products shops. These come in both liquid and gel forms, and contain powerful active ingredients that are designed to target tough stains. Read the product instructions and follow them closely, as using too much can lead to discoloration and fading.

Wash and Dry the Garment

Once you’ve tried any of above methods, it’s important to launder the garment in accordance with instructions provided by the manufacturer. Many cotton twill shirts can be washed in a washing machine – just be sure to select a delicate or mild cycle with cold water. Hang the shirt outside to dry for best results.
