Step 1: Blot the Stain

As soon as you notice the toothpaste stain on your coat, take a cloth or sponge and soak up any excess toothpaste that hasn’t already soaked into the fabric. Do not rub the cloth or sponge into the fabric as this may cause stain to spread.

Step 2: Pretreat the Stain

Once toothpaste has been blotted up, you can start pretreating the stain with a detergent-based cleaner. Work cleaner into fabric using a soft brush or cloth, rubbing in a circular motion. Make sure to cover the entire stained area with the cleaner.

Step 3: Wash the Coat As Normal

Once the stain has been pretreated, the coat can be washed as normal. Use a mild detergent and wash coat in cold or warm water depending on the fabric. After the coat has finished washing, leave it to air dry or tumble dry on a low setting. Once the coat is dry, check to ensure the stain has been completely removed.
