The first step in cleaning toothpaste stains is to gently scrape with a dull knife or spoon. This will remove as much excess toothpaste as possible without damaging the fabric. Be sure to scrape carefully, taking care not to press too hard or damage the fabric.
Once you’ve removed as much of toothpaste as possible, pre-treat the stain with a laundry pre-treatment product. Follow instructions on package and allow the product to sit on the stain for at least five minutes before proceeding to the next step.
Next, apply a generous amount of laundry detergent to the stain and rub it into the fabric using your fingers. Allow the detergent to sit for 15 minutes before putting shorts into the washing machine.
Finally, wash the board shorts in the washing machine according to the care label. If stain is still present after washing, repeat steps one through four until the stain is completely removed.
