This easy combo is a popular stain buster. Simply mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 1/4 cup of white vinegar and a 1/2 cup of warm water. Stir together to combine and create a paste. Apply the paste directly onto the stained area and rub gently with a sponge or cloth. Rinse away with fresh water. This method should even work on tough, dried up stains.
This method is best used for fresh stains and can be done quickly with ingredients you most likely already have in your kitchen. Heat up 1 cup of water until boiling and combine with 1 teaspoon of dish detergent. Carefully pour the mixture directly onto the tomato stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Wipe away any remaining residue with a clean cloth.
Borax is an all-natural, multipurpose cleaner that is great for removing stains and dirt. To use, combine 2 tablespoons of Borax with 1 cup of warm water. Mix together until the Borax is fully dissolved and then apply to the stained area. Let the Borax solution sit for 5-10 minutes and then rinse away with a clean cloth.
If you want to avoid commercial cleaning agents, you can also try making a soap solution at home. Combine 1 tablespoon of pure liquid soap and 1/2 teaspoon of white vinegar with 1 cup of cold water. Stir to combine and then apply to the stained area. Rub gently with a damp cloth and rinse away.
It's much easier to prevent tomato stains than it is to clean them off. If you're going to be working with tomatoes, try wearing rubber or latex gloves to keep your hands (and windows!) clean. You can also invest in some kitchen towels that specifically designed to absorb messes and spills.
