Removing Fresh Tomato Stains

If the stain is still fresh, the most effective technique is to use cold water and a damp cloth or paper towel. First, scrape off any excess tomato residue from the fabric using a dull knife or spoon. Next, run cold water over the stain and gently dab it with a damp cloth or paper towel. Do not rub the stain, as this could cause it to set in deeper into the fabric. Finally, rinse with cold water again and lay flat to air dry.

For Old or Set-In Stains

If the stain has had a chance to set in or is dried, you'll need to use a stronger cleaning agent. Start by mixing a few drops of detergent with a cup of cold water. Soak a cloth or paper towel in the mixture and then apply directly to the stain. Let it sit for a few minutes before gently rubbing in a circular motion. Rinse the area with cold water and let air dry.

Using Vinegar

Another effective way to get tomato stains out of uniform is to use white vinegar. Start by mixing equal parts white vinegar and cold water. Dip a cloth or paper towel into the solution and dab it onto the stain. Use a separate cloth to rub stain in gentle, circular motions. Finish by rinsing with cold water and laying flat to air dry.
