Using Natural Solutions

For starters, make sure you act quickly. The sooner you tackle the stain, better chance you have of removing it completely.

You can begin by tackling the stain with natural ingredients. Both salt and vinegar can help to lift tomato sauce from fabric; simply sprinkle a generous amount of salt on affected area and rub in gently. Let the salt absorb the tomato sauce and then brush away. Next, use white vinegar to lift the remaining stain and blot away.

Laundry Detergent

Another popular method for tackling tomato sauces is to use laundry detergent. Choose a laundry detergent specifically designed for washing delicate fabrics. Moisten a piece of cloth with warm water, add a few drops of your chosen product and rub gently over the stained area. Follow this up with more warm water and dab dry.

Commercial Stain Removers

If natural solutions or laundry detergents don't do the trick, try using commercial stain removers for stubborn tomato stains. Be sure to check whether the product is safe for delicate fabrics before proceeding. Apply a small amount of the product directly to the stained area, leave it to soak for a while and then rinse off before blotting the area dry.

Professional Laundering

Finally, if all else fails, it's time to call in the professionals. A professional dry cleaner will be able to handle job more efficiently than any DIY attempt and will likely have greater success at getting rid of tomato stain once and for all.
