Get Rid of Tomato Stains on Tartan Once and For All!

Step 1: Blot the Stain with a Clean Cloth
When you discover that your tartan item has been stained by tomatoes, the first thing you should do is lay the item down flat on an absorbent surface. With a white cloth or paper towel, start to gently blot the stain, without rubbing it in further. Absorb as much of the liquid as possible in this way.
Step 2: Prepare a Solution to Spot Clean the Stained Area
Mix together half a teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent, half a teaspoon of white vinegar and a cup of warm water. Use a sponge to dab solution onto affected area, focusing on where the stain is. Make sure you don’t spread the stain by scrubbing or rubbing it in.
Step 3: Rinse Area with Cold Water
After you have dabbed affected area with the cleaning solution, rinse the area with cold water to remove any residue of the cleaning solution. Don’t wipe area with a cloth at this stage; instead, gently tap it with your fingers or use a spray bottle filled with cold water to gently rinse the area.
Step 4: Allow Piece of Tartan to Air Dry
Once you have rinsed the item of clothing, leave it to air dry on an absorbent surface or a clean towel. Avoid using direct heat to speed up the drying process as this can set the stain.
Step 5: Consider Professional Dry Cleaning for Tough Stains
