Tomato sauce or salsa on taffeta fabric can leave behind an unsightly stain. But fear not! However challenging it may seem, those tough tomato stains can actually be removed from taffeta with some patience and the right technique.
First, scrape off as much of tomato sauce or salsa as possible.
Blot the stain gently with a clean cloth or paper towels. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing it, as this could damage the delicate fabric.
Flush the garment on the reverse side with cool water.
Apply a liquid detergent directly onto the stain and then rub it in gently.
If stain has not been completely removed, try a mixture of dish soap and vinegar. Work the solution into the stain and allow it to sit for several minutes.
Rinse the garment in cold water, working from the back side.
Launder the garment in cold water on the delicate cycle. If the stain is still visibly present, try spot treating area with a laundry pre-treatment or a dab of bleach.
Air dry garment.
Check the care label on your garment before attempting to clean the stain. Some fabrics may require professional cleaning. It’s also important to test any spot treatment solution on an inconspicuous part of garment to assess for potential color damage.
