Take a clean absorbent cloth or paper towel and dab at the stain. Don't rub it, as this will only spread the stain further into the fabric. Blotting removes some of the liquid and helps to prevent the stain from setting in further.
Mix two tablespoons of liquid detergent with one quart of warm water. Dip a cloth into the solution and apply it directly onto the tomato stain, making sure to get the edges and underside of fabric. Leave the solution on for about 10 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.
If the stain persists, mix one part OxyClean powder with four parts water. Soak a soft cloth in the solution and apply it directly to the stain for about 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and inspect the results.
If stain is still visible, repeat the previous steps until it is completely gone. If the stain won't come out after several attempts, you may need to take your sleep shirt to a dry cleaner.
