Pre-treating with Vinegar

Try pre-treating the stain as soon as possible to avoid a set-in stain. When you spot a tomato stain on your silk gazar, apply some distilled white vinegar directly to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. This will help to lift the tomato blotch away from the fabric before you even begin washing.

Using Baking Soda

Baking soda is great for getting out tomato stains from any fabric, but especially from delicate fabrics like silk gazars. Make a paste by mixing two parts baking soda and one part water. Apply paste directly to the tomato stain and let it sit for 10 – 15 minutes. Once the paste has dried, simply brush the baking soda off with a soft brush and the tomato stain should come right off.

Washing with Soap & Water

For lighter stains, a simple mix of water and dishwashing liquid may do the trick. Mix 1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid with 2 cups of warm water. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and dab stain with it. Be sure not to rub the stain, as this may cause further damage to the fabric. Continue to dab until the stain is gone.

Deodorizing with Essential Oils

Once all of the tomato stain has been removed, you may still find that the fabric has retained a certain smell. Essential oils can help to deodorize the material and leave it with a fresh scent. Add 5 drops of lavender, eucalyptus or tea tree oil to the stain and rub it in with your fingertips. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, then wash the fabric as usual.
