Steps for Removing Tomato Stains from Robes
- As soon as possible, scrape off as much of the dried tomato sauce as you can.
- Mix together one tablespoon liquid dish soap and one cup warm water in a bowl, and stir until the soap is dissolved.
- Take a clean white cloth and dip it into the detergent-water solution.
- Gently rub the soapy cloth onto the tomato stain, as if you are trying to lift the stain out.
- Leave the stained area to dry completely.
- Once the stain is dry, mix together two cups of warm water and one teaspoon of white vinegar.
- Take a clean white cloth and dip it into the vinegar solution.
- Gently dab the vinegary cloth onto the tomato stain, working from the outside of the stain inwards.
- Rinse thoroughly by running the robe under cold water.
- Repeat if necessary.
- Air-dry robe, or put it in the washing machine, as per the garment care instructions.
Tips for Removing Tomato Stains From Robes
- Always read label to check that the fabric is safe to be washed with both soaps and vinegar.
- Test any cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous area of the robe before using it on the stain.
- Avoid using hot water as this can set the stain.
- Don't rub the cloth vigorously as this can cause the stain to spread.
- For stubborn tomato stains, use a few drops of rubbing alcohol or rubbing alcohol-based cleaner.
