Steps for Removing Tomato Stains from Robes

  1. As soon as possible, scrape off as much of the dried tomato sauce as you can.
  2. Mix together one tablespoon liquid dish soap and one cup warm water in a bowl, and stir until the soap is dissolved.
  3. Take a clean white cloth and dip it into the detergent-water solution.
  4. Gently rub the soapy cloth onto the tomato stain, as if you are trying to lift the stain out.
  5. Leave the stained area to dry completely.
  6. Once the stain is dry, mix together two cups of warm water and one teaspoon of white vinegar.
  7. Take a clean white cloth and dip it into the vinegar solution.
  8. Gently dab the vinegary cloth onto the tomato stain, working from the outside of the stain inwards.
  9. Rinse thoroughly by running the robe under cold water.
  10. Repeat if necessary.
  11. Air-dry robe, or put it in the washing machine, as per the garment care instructions.

Tips for Removing Tomato Stains From Robes

  • Always read label to check that the fabric is safe to be washed with both soaps and vinegar.
  • Test any cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous area of the robe before using it on the stain.
  • Avoid using hot water as this can set the stain.
  • Don't rub the cloth vigorously as this can cause the stain to spread.
  • For stubborn tomato stains, use a few drops of rubbing alcohol or rubbing alcohol-based cleaner.
