Removing Fresh Tomato Stains

If you have a fresh tomato stain, start off by gently blotting the stain with a paper towel or cloth. Don't rub the stain, as this will likely spread it.

Next, cover the stained area with a mild liquid laundry detergent which doesn't contain bleach. Allow the detergent to sit for several minutes before gently rubbing stain. Finally, launder the robe alone in warm water.

Cleaning Tough Tomato Stains

If the tomato stain is more than a few hours old and it's proving difficult to remove, you'll want to use a more powerful cleaning agent. Try applying a paste of dishwashing detergent and hydrogen peroxide to the stain. Allow the paste to sit for around 30 minutes and then gently rub the stain away. Wash robe afterwards in warm water.

Preventing Future Tomato Stains

To avoid having tomato stains in the future when handling foods like ketchup, immediately wash the stained fabric with warm water. Generally the sooner you start cleaning, the better the stain will come out in the end.
