Step 1: Remove Excess Solids

To start off the cleaning process, use a spoon or blunt knife to remove as much of excess solids as possible. You may need to scrape at stain slightly, so be sure to use a gentle touch. Don’t press down too hard to avoid damaging the fabric!

Step 2: Blot With a Clean Towel

Once you’ve removed as much of solid residue as you can, turn garment inside out and place a clean cloth beneath it. Then, gently dab the stained area with another clean cloth to absorb the liquid.

Step 3: Pre-Treat the Stain

To pre-treat the stain, mix together a solution of three parts water and one part white vinegar. Apply the solution to the stain using a clean sponge or cloth. Allow the solution to sit for a few minutes before blotting again with a clean cloth.

Step 4: Wash Garment

Once the pre-treatment is complete, turn the garment right side out and machine wash it as normal. It’s important to use cold water when washing rayon fabrics, as hot water can cause them to shrink. If you’re still noticing the stain after washing, you can repeat steps two through four to get it out.
