On a cold/delicate cycle setting, add a small amount of liquid detergent to your washing machine. Put the raincoat in and let it run for a few minutes. Once it's done, take your old toothbrush and use it to scrub the stained areas. This will help break up the tomato residue, making it easier to remove. Be careful not to scrub too hard, as this could damage the fabric.
Once you've finished scrubbing, rinse the raincoat with cold water. This will help wash away any remaining dirt and tomato residue. Do not use hot water, as this could set the stain, making it harder to remove.
After rinsing, fill your sink or a bucket with cold water and add a few tablespoons of white vinegar. Place the stained raincoat into mixture and leave it for about 30 minutes. This will help loosen stain even further.
Once the raincoat has had a chance to soak, remove it from the mixture and place it in washing machine. Wash it on a cold/delicate cycle. Once the cycle is finished, dry the raincoat on low heat. Do not put it in the dryer on high heat — this could cause the stain to set.
You should now find that tomato stain on your raincoat is gone. You can admire your work and be proud knowing you have saved your raincoat from potential disaster!
