If the stain is still fresh, start by blotting the spot with a paper towel or clean cloth to remove as much of the liquid as possible. Avoid rubbing the tomato as this will just push it further into the fabric fibers.
Next, you will need to create a mixture of one tablespoon of dish soap and one cup of warm water. Dip a soft cloth into solution and then use it to blot (not rub) the stain. If necessary, dab a little bit of the solution onto the stain directly. Finally, rinse the area with cold water and let air dry.
Bringing older tomato stains out of fabrics can be a bit more difficult. Start by dabbing the stain with a cloth and rubbing alcohol or white vinegar. Try to lift stain out of the fabric fibers instead of pushing it deeper in.
If the previous steps don't work, mix two cups of cool water and one teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent. Dip a white cloth into the mixture and gently dab at the stain. Be sure not to scrub too hard as this could bleach or damage the fabric. Next, rinse area with cold water and let air dry.
