Organza is a lightweight, sheer fabric often used in clothing and linens. Unfortunately, it is also highly prone to staining, so if you find yourself with a tomato stain on organza, here’s what you need to do:
If you can, spot treat the stain immediately with a pre-treatment product. Gently brush the pre-treatment into stained area and let it sit for 15 minutes. This will help loosen the stain and make it easier to wash out.
When you’re ready to wash, make sure to separate stained item from rest of the load. Hot water is best for removing tomato stains, but if fabric is delicate, cold water may be safer. Use a mild detergent and a gentle cycle, and be sure to check label for instructions or warnings before washing.
Before drying, check the stain to see if it has been removed. If it has not, repeat steps 1 and 2. If it has, then proceed to step 4.
If the stain has been removed, dry and iron the organza as usual. Make sure the iron isn’t too hot, as this may cause further damage to the fabric.
The best way to remove a tomato stain from organza is to prevent them in the first place. Be sure to use protective covers over your organza fabrics, and quickly remove any spills that do occur. Following these steps will help keep your organza fabrics looking like new for years to come.
