Removing Fresh Tomato Stains
- Using a paper towel or cloth, carefully blot up as much of the tomato stain as possible.
- Make a paste using a mixture of water and liquid dish soap. Spread this paste over the tomato stain on mattress.
- Using a microfiber cloth, gently dab paste into the stain, working it in further with a toothbrush.
- Wipe away the paste with a damp cloth.
Removing Set-In Tomato Stains
- Mix together equal parts white vinegar and water in a bowl.
- Using a spray bottle, saturate the tomato stain with the vinegar solution.
- Let it sit for 15-20 minutes, allowing the solution to penetrate the stain.
- Using a clean rag, blot stain until dry.
- Sprinkle baking soda onto the spot where the stain was and let it sit overnight.
- Vacuum the baking soda up in the morning.
Additional Tips
- Never rub the stain, as this will only push the tomato deeper into fabric.
- If you don't have any white vinegar on hand, you can also try substituting lemon juice for vinegar.
- Be sure to test any cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous area of mattress first.
