Removing Tomato Stains from Masks

  1. To start, take your mask and run it under cold water.
  2. Gently scrub the area of tomato stain with a bit of mild detergent or hand soap. Use a soft-bristled brush or microfiber cloth if you have one handy.
  3. Once the detergent is worked into fabric, rinse away the residue under cold water.
  4. If the stain is still visible, you can use a gentle bleach-free bleach or homemade solution of 1 tablespoon white vinegar and 2 cups of warm water to help remove it.
  5. Allow the mask to air-dry completely. Do not use a washer or dryer for this process as it could damage the fabric of your mask.

Preventing Tomato Stains on Masks

Stains can be prevented in the first place by applying a protective spray or coating to your mask before each wear. This will create a barrier between your mask and any food or drinks that may come in contact with it, thus protecting the fabric from any potential stains.

Tips for Cleaning Other Mask Stains

Tomato stains are certainly pesky, but it’s important to know how to clean other types of stains as well. To remove other types of stains, follow same steps as above, but substitute out vinegar and water solution for a specific type of cleaner. For lipstick or makeup stains, use rubbing alcohol; for coffee stains, use baking soda mixed with a small amount of water; for blood stains, use hydrogen peroxide.
