What You'll Need

  • Cold water
  • Mild liquid detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Bowl or sink
  • Soft-bristle brush

Step 1: Blotting

The first step in removing tomato stains from lace is to blot area with cold water. Use a clean cloth or paper towel to press firmly on the stained area. Do not rub the fabric, as this could cause the stain to set in fabric.

Step 2: Pre-Treat the Stain

Mix a mild liquid detergent and cold water together in a bowl or sink. Soak the stained area in this mixture for at least 15 minutes. Then, use a soft-bristle brush to gently scrub the stain.

Step 3: Rinse & Repeat

After scrubbing the stained area, rinse the fabric in cold water. If stain persists, repeat steps two and three until it's gone.

Step 4: White Vinegar Solution

If the stain still remains after you've tried the other steps, mix together one part white vinegar with two parts cold water. Soak the stained area in this mixture for at least 20 minutes, then rinse in cold water. If the stain persists, repeat steps three and four until it's gone.

Step 5: Dry

Finally, lay the fabric flat to air-dry. Once it's dry, inspect the fabric to make sure stain is completely gone.

Conclusion

Removing tomato stains from lace doesn't have to be a difficult process. With a few simple steps and some common household items, your lace will be good as new!
