Tomato stains, whether from ketchup or tomato sauces, can be stubborn and difficult to remove from fabric. But don’t worry! The following steps will help you remove tomato stains from your jersey quickly and easily.

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Start by blotting stain with a damp cloth to lift as much of the stain as possible. Be sure to use cool water and to use a gentle blotting motion so that you don’t spread the stain.

Step 2: Pre-Treat the Stain

Once you’ve blotted away as much of the stain as possible, pre-treat stain with laundry detergent and warm water. Let the detergent sit on the stain for two to three minutes, then use a toothbrush or scrub brush to gently agitate stain.

Step 3: Launder the Garment

Once stain has been pre-treated and agitated, launder garment according to care label instructions. Make sure to use color-safe bleach if needed and to air-dry the item for best results. Do not put the garment in the dryer until you have verified that the tomato stain is gone.

Step 4: Repeat as Needed

If tomato stain is still present after laundering, repeat steps two and three until stain is completely gone. If necessary, you may also want to use a stain remover product before laundering.

Bonus Tip: Act Quickly!

Remember, faster you act to treat a tomato stain, the better chance you have of removing it completely. So, when you spot a tomato stain, don’t wait! Take action right away and tackle the stain with the steps outlined above.
