Begin by dampening the stain with cold water. This will help soften the dried tomato stain and make it easier to treat. Avoid using hot water as this could set the stain further into the fabric.
In a small bowl, combine 1 part dish soap with 2 parts salt until mixture forms a paste. Use the paste to coat stained area.
Once the paste is applied, allow it to sit for around 15 minutes whilst the soap loosens the tomato residue and the salt absorbs some of the juice.
Take a soft bristled brush and gently scrub the stained area. This should help remove the remaining tomato residue from the fabric.
Once tomato stain has been removed, rinse the fabric with cold water to remove any traces of the paste. If any residue remains, repeat steps 2 through 4 until the stain is completely gone.
If the tomato stain persists, try combining equal parts white vinegar and baking soda until a paste is formed. Apply the paste to the stained area, allow it to sit for 15 minutes and then scrub fabric with a soft bristled brush. Once tomato stain has been removed, rinse the fabric with cold water.
By following these simple steps, you should be able to easily remove tomato stains from your J Jills. Remember to always test cleaning products on an inconspicuous area of the garment before applying it directly to the stain to ensure that the fabric doesn’t suffer any damage.
