Before you start, make sure you check the label of your garment for any specific instructions. If there are no laundry instructions listed, begin by pre-treating the stain with a mild laundry detergent.
Using a clean cloth or sponge, dampen it with cold water and work a small amount of the detergent into the stained area. Work the detergent into area in a circular motion. After this, allow the detergent to sit for 5 minutes to really soak in.
Once you have pre-treated the affected area, the next step is to machine wash the Irish Crochet. First, make sure to read the care instructions of garment for any machine wash settings. Once you have done that, set the temperature of the machine wash to cold and add a mild detergent.
If you are washing the garment with other items, make sure they are of similar colors and textures. After this, run the machine wash cycle and remove the garment once it is done. Do not dry the garment until the stain is completely gone.
For the final step, you will need to ensure the tomato stain has been completely removed. To do this, apply a small amount of liquid laundry detergent on stained area once more. Leave the detergent to sit for 10 minutes, then go back and gently scrub the area with a soft brush.
If stain has still not been removed, try using a diluted solution of white vinegar and water. Mix 1 part of vinegar to 2 parts of water and apply the solution on the stained area. Allow it to soak and then use a soft brush to scrub away the remaining stain. Finally, rinse the garment and machine wash it one last time.
