- Laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- Bowl
- Oxygen-based bleach
- Sponge, cloth, or toothbrush
Steps to Remove Tomato Stains
- Mix equal parts laundry detergent and white vinegar in a bowl. Put enough of the solution on the stain to make it wet.
- Let the mixture sit on stain for 15 minutes.
- Check the stain to see if it has been removed. If not, add more of the laundry detergent and white vinegar mixture and let it sit for another 15 minutes.
- Once the stain has faded, rinse area with cool water.
- If the stain persists, use an oxygen-based bleach and soak the area in it for 10 minutes, followed by a final rinse of cool water.
- If the stain still remains, gently scrub it with a sponge, cloth, or a toothbrush.
Tips for Removing Tomato Stains
- Test the detergent and bleach on a small inconspicuous area of your garment first to make sure that it won't cause any discoloration or damage.
- Always work from the outside of the stain into the center so as to not spread it further.
