The first step to getting rid of a tomato stain on your Hermes bag is to quickly blot the excess liquid off with a clean, dry cloth. This will help prevent it from sinking into the leather. Just be sure not to rub the stain as this could cause it to spread.
Once the excess liquid has been blotted away, you’ll need to make a paste of baking soda and warm water. Mix together about a tablespoon of each in a bowl until it forms a thick paste. Then, apply paste to the stain and let it sit for 30 minutes.
After the paste has had a chance to absorb the stain, use a wet cloth to remove the paste and any remaining tomato residue. Be sure to rinse the cloth often while doing this, as the tomato can stick to the cloth and make stain worse.
Once the paste and tomato residue have been removed, it’s time to dry your bag. To do so, either lay it flat out of direct sunlight or hang it up somewhere where air flow can reach it. Do not try to speed up drying process by using a blow dryer or other heat source as this could damage the leather.
Cleaning tomato stains from Hermes doesn’t have to be a daunting task. By following these 4 simple steps you can safely and effectively tackle any tomato stain that may befall your favorite bag. With a bit of care, your Hermes will look fabulous for many years to come.
