If the stain has just happened, it's best to act quickly. Remove any excess tomato pulp that is still on the purse. Use a paper towel to blot the stain to remove any excess moisture. Don't rub or scrub, as that can cause the stain to spread and set further.
If purse is made of leather, mix a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts cold water. Dip a soft cloth into the solution, and lightly dab the stain. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing, as this can cause more damage to the purse.
For purses made from fabric, mix one part liquid laundry detergent and two parts cold water. Apply the cleaning solution directly onto the stain, then gently blot the area with a soft cloth. Rinse out the area with cold water and use a dry cloth to blot the area once again.
For dried tomato stains, baking soda or cornstarch can be used to help absorb any liquids before attempting to clean purse. Sprinkle baking soda or cornstarch over the stain, and let it sit for a few hours. Use a vacuum to remove the substances, and then proceed to cleaning stain.
For leather purses, mix one part rubbing alcohol and one part distilled water. Dip a soft cloth into the mixture, and dab the stained area gently. Avoid scrubbing, as this will cause more damage. Once the area is dry, apply a leather conditioner to the area to prevent it from cracking or drying out.
For fabric purses, mix together one teaspoon of laundry detergent, two tablespoons of white vinegar, and a cup of warm water. Use a soft cloth to gently scrub the area, and blot the area afterwards to remove any excess moisture. Rinse area with cold water, and let it air dry.
