To get started, you’ll need some basic cleaning supplies: baking soda, white vinegar, a soft cloth, and some laundry detergent. If you have access to a handheld steam cleaner, that can be helpful too.
Create a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and laundry detergent, then use a soft cloth to gently apply the mixture to the stain. Work in a circular motion, and be careful not to spread the stain further.
Allow the mixture to soak into the stain for a few minutes, then scrub gently with a soft cloth. You can also try using a hard-bristled brush or toothbrush to work the mixture into fabric more deeply.
Once the stain has been lifted, rinse the handbag in cold water and repeat the pre-treating and scrubbing steps as needed until the stain is completely removed. Be sure to rinse the bag between each attempt.
If you have access to a handheld steam cleaner, you can use it to remove tomato stain from your handbag. Start by steaming the area around the stain, and then move the nozzle directly over the stain itself. Hold it in place for a few seconds and then brush away any residue with a soft cloth.
Once you’re finished cleaning the stain, allow the handbag to air dry completely before putting it away. If possible, set the bag in direct sunlight for a few hours to help remove any lingering odors.
To help protect your handbag from future stains, create a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar and use a soft cloth to apply it to the fabric. This will create a barrier that can help repel future spills.
