Removing Fresh Tomato Stains

If you notice a tomato stain on your clothing right away, the best thing to do is gently blot the area with a paper towel or cloth. Don’t rub as this will only spread the stain and make it harder to remove. Once you’ve blotted as much of the stain out as possible, dip a toothbrush in some white vinegar and lightly scrub stain in a circular motion. Rinse the area with cold water and repeat the process until stain is gone.

Getting Rid of Stubborn Tomato Stains

If the tomato stain has already set in, you’ll need to use a more aggressive approach. Firstly, apply a stain-removal product such as Vanish or Spray ‘n Wash directly to the stain and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Then, put garment in a sink or tub filled with cold water and a few tablespoons of detergent. Soak the garment for 30 minutes before rubbing the area gently with a soft brush. Afterwards, rinse garment with cold water, and if the stain remains, repeat the process.

Cleaning Different Types of Fabrics

The key to removing tomato stains from clothing is choosing the right cleaning method for the fabric. For delicate fabrics like silk and wool, be sure to use warm soapy water to avoid damaging the fabric. If you’re dealing with a cotton or synthetic material, feel free to use a commercial stain remover like Shout or OxiClean. With a little bit of patience and the right cleaning products, you should be able to get rid of those pesky tomato stains in no time.
