The first step in removing tomato stains from Fila is to identify the type of material you are dealing with. Fila shoes are made from various types of fabric, so make sure to know what kind of fabric your shoes are made from before proceeding with the cleaning process. If your shoes are canvas or suede, use a dry cloth to absorb as much liquid as possible.
If your Fila are leather, you need to take extra care. Make a solution of warm water and castile soap, then moisten a cloth with it and gently wipe the stain. Do not use too much water — just enough to dampen the cloth and the area around the stain. After wiping, let the area air dry. Afterwards, apply a leather conditioner to prevent any cracking.
If the stain is still visible, apply a dollop of non-gel toothpaste and gently scrub area with a soft brush. This will help to break up the stain without damaging the material. After brushing, wipe away the toothpaste and stain should be gone.
Finally, if all else fails, use a commercial shoe cleaner designed specifically for the material of your shoes. Follow the instructions on label and make sure to test the cleaner on an inconspicuous area before applying it to the stain.
No matter the material, getting tomato stains out of Fila's doesn't have to be complicated. With a bit of elbow grease and the right tools, those stains can be gone in no time!
