How to Remove Stubborn Tomato Stains from Evening Gowns

Method 1: Pre-Treating Stain
- Mix ½ cup of liquid laundry detergent with one quart of warm water
- Soak stained area of the garment in the mixture for up to 30 minutes
- Gently rub the fabric together to help loosen and remove the stain
- After treating the fabric, rinse thoroughly
Method 2: Spot Treating the Stain
- Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda on the stain
- Using a damp cloth, rub baking soda into fabric
- Rinse with cool water
- If the stain remains, try a stronger detergent, such as a liquid dishwashing detergent, or a commercial spot remover.
Method 3: Use a Detergent Solution
- Mix a teaspoon of laundry detergent into a cup of warm water
- Apply detergent solution to the stained area with a soft bristled brush or towel
- Allow the solution to soak into the fabric for 15 minutes
- Rinse thoroughly with a damp cloth
- Repeat if necessary
Method 4: Dry Cleaning
- Take the garment to the dry cleaner for professional cleaning
- The dry cleaner will use a special cleaning solution and process to remove the stain without damaging delicate fabric

- Be sure to test any cleaning solution on a small, hidden area of the garment before using
