It’s inevitable that tomato stains will end up on your coveralls at some point. Working in a garden or kitchen where tomatoes are commonplace, you can’t avoid occasional splatter. Instead of throwing away your coveralls, try this method for removing the tomato stains.

What You'll Need

  • Cold water
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Soft cloth

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. As soon as possible after getting tomato stains on your coveralls, rinse area with cold water. This will help get rid of some of residual tomato juice.
  2. Create a mixture of liquid laundry detergent and cold water. Dip a cloth into the mixture and gently rub the fabric to create a lather.
  3. Rinse the cloth, then dip it into a mixture of half white vinegar and half water. Blot the stain with this mixture to help remove it.
  4. Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with enough water to make a paste. Spread the paste over the stain and let it dry. Then, brush it off with a soft cloth.
  5. Wash the coveralls according to the instructions on tag. The fabrics used may vary, so use a gentle cycle and mild detergent whenever possible.
