- Dish soap
- Sponge
- Clean cloths
- Water
Step-by-Step Guide to Remove Tomato Stains
- Treat the Stain Immediately: As soon as you notice the tomato stain, blot it with a damp, clean cloth to absorb as much of moisture as possible. Do not rub the stained area as doing so can cause it to spread and set further.
- Make a Paste: Mix together equal parts of baking soda and water in a bowl until it forms a paste. Apply this paste directly onto the tomato stain and leave it on for 10-15 minutes.
- Rinse the Paste: Once the paste has been on the stain for allotted time, rinse it off in cold water.
- Pre-treat the Stain: Create a pre-treatment solution by combining 1 part vinegar, 1 part lemon juice, and 2 parts water. Dip a sponge in the mixture and lightly dab the tomato stain until it is saturated.
- Apply a Stain Remover: Sprinkle some borax onto the stain and follow up with a few drops of dish soap. Gently rub the stain in circular motions for 5 minutes.
- Rinse and Dry: Rinse the stained area with cold water and gently pat it dry with a clean cloth.
Additional Tips
- If possible, take the fabric to a professional cleaner for a deep-cleaning.
- Be persistent when removing stain and do not give up too soon.
- Do not use hot water as it can cause the stain to set further into fabric.
