Method 1 - Cold Water Wash

The first thing you should do is rinse the stain with cold water as soon as possible. This helps to reduce the chances of the tomato stain setting into the fabric fibers. Rinse the stain thoroughly until the water runs clear. Do not rub or scrub the fabric as this will only push the stain deeper into the fabric.

Method 2 - Detergent Solution

Mix one teaspoon of liquid detergent and one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm water. Immerse the stained area in this solution and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then, use a brush or a soft cloth to gently scrub the stain until it starts to disappear. Finally, rinse the entire piece of clothing in cold water to get rid of any soapy residue.

Method 3 - Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide

Baking soda has excellent stain-busting properties. To make a paste, mix two tablespoons of baking soda with two tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide (3% solution). Apply the paste onto the stained area and let it sit for 10 minutes. Gently scrub the stain to lift it from the fabric and then rinse thoroughly with cold water.

Method 4 - Enzyme Laundry Detergent

If all else fails, you can try an enzyme laundry detergent. Enzyme laundry detergents contain enzymes that work to break down stubborn stains. Apply the laundry detergent onto the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes before washing the clothing item in its regular cycle. This method helps to break down the stain molecules, making it easier to remove tomato stains from cotton oxford.
