Start by lightly blotting the stained area with a paper towel or white cloth to absorb as much of the excess tomato juice as possible. Do not rub the fabric; this may cause the stain to spread or become more deeply embedded in the material.
Next, use a few drops of rubbing alcohol, applied directly to the stain. This helps to break up the tomato juice and loosen it from the fabric fibers. After applying the alcohol, let it sit for a few minutes before continuing.
After treating the stain with rubbing alcohol, place fabric in cold water and let it soak overnight. This helps to further dissolve any tomato residue and make it easier to lift away with soap or liquid detergent.
In the morning, remove the fabric from the cold water and apply a small amount of liquid detergent or mild, bleach-free soap directly to the tomato stain. Use your fingers to gently rub the detergent into the fabric, then rinse with cold water.
If any traces of tomato stain remain, repeat Steps 2–4 until the stain is completely removed. If you're still having trouble, try adding a little vinegar to the wash cycle for extra stain-fighting power.
After rinsing and drying the fabric, your tomato-stained chiffon fabric should be looking as good as new. Enjoy wearing your favorite chiffon garment again!
