What You'll Need
- White towel
- Borax powder
- White vinegar
- Cold water
- Liquid laundry detergent
Instructions
- If tomato stain is still a bit wet, use a white towel to gently blot it up. Do not scrub the stain – this will only set stain deeper into the fabric.
- Once the excess liquid has been removed, create a mixture of cold water, borax powder and white vinegar in a bowl. Stir the mixture well and make sure that borax has completely dissolved.
- Apply the solution directly onto the tomato stain and let sit for 15-20 minutes.
- After 20 minutes, use a white towel to blot up the solution.
- Wash the shirt according to instructions on the tag, using a liquid detergent.
- Check the shirt after the cycle is done – if the stain is completely gone, hang the shirt to dry. If there are still traces of the stain, repeat Steps 2-5.
Tips and Warnings
- Always test cleaning solutions on a small patch of fabric before proceeding with the entire garment. This will ensure that no further damage is done to clothing.
- Do not use hot water as this will set the stain further into the fabric.
