Step 1: Scrape Off Any Solid Material

Use a blunt knife or spoon to scrape off any remaining solid material, like pulp or seeds, from the fabric. This will prevent it from getting further embedded into the fibers.

Step 2: Soak in Cold Water

Fill a bucket or sink with cold water and soak the garment for at least 10 minutes. You can add a mild detergent to the water to help loosen stain.

Step 3: Pre-Treat the Stain

Create a cleaning paste by mixing equal parts water and baking soda. Apply paste to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes before washing. You can also use a pre-made spot remover product.

Step 4: Wash Garment

Once the garment has been soaked and pre-treated, put it in washing machine and set the cycle to the proper settings. Use a gentle cycle and add a detergent of your choice.

Step 5: Dry the Garment

Once the wash cycle is complete, hang the garment up inside and let it dry completely. Be sure that the tomato stain has been completely removed before drying.
