No matter if you’re a chef, a gardener, or just enjoy tomatoes as a snack, chances are you’ve had to deal with pesky tomato stains on your shoes. Tomato stains can be tricky, as acidity of the tomato can make it difficult for cleaning products to break down the stain. Luckily, there are some easy steps you can take to get rid of those tomato stains from your boots.
What You'll Need
- Bucket
- Water
- Dishwashing liquid
- Soft cloths
- White vinegar
- Baking soda
Instructions
- Start by filling a bucket with warm water and adding a few drops of dishwashing liquid.
- Take a soft cloth and dip it into soapy water. Gently scrub the stained area of the boot, being careful not to scrub too hard. This should help break up the stain.
- Once the stain has been broken up, rinse the area off with clean water.
- If stain still remains, try mixing a paste of baking soda and white vinegar. Rub the paste into stained area and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off the paste with clean water.
- If the stain still isn’t fully removed, repeat the above steps until the stain is gone.
Tips
- Make sure to use a gentle soap and cloth to clean stain. Too much scrubbing or using a harsh soap can damage the material of the boots.
- The baking soda and vinegar paste can be used on all kinds of stains, not just tomato stains, so save any extra for future messes.
