Step 1: Blot the Stain

When a tomato sauce stain has landed on your board shorts, first step is to blot up as much of the stain as you can. Do not rub or scrub at the stain; instead, gently dab the area with a clean cloth or paper towel. This will help absorb excess sauce and reduce effect of stain.

Step 2: Pretreat the Stain with Dish Soap

Next, apply a small amount of dish soap to the affected area. Rub it in lightly, then let it sit for about 10 minutes. This will help lift the stain and make it easier to remove.

Step 3: Machine Wash with Detergent

Once the stain has been pretreated with dish soap, it's time to throw board shorts into washing machine. Use a regular detergent, and set the cycle to warm or hot water. If you'd like, you can add a stain-fighting product, like OxiClean, to the load.

Step 4: Air Dry or Dry on Low Heat

Finally, once the board shorts have gone through wash, hang them up to air dry or tumble dry on low heat. Avoid high heat, which can set the stain and make it harder to remove. Once dry, inspect the shorts for any remaining stains and repeat the process if necessary.
