With the summer months quickly approaching, a lot of us will soon be taking advantage of the warm days and having picnic lunches and dinners outdoors. But all that lovely food can sometimes cause unfortunate stains - including tomato!

Luckily, tomato stains can easily be removed from backpacks with the right supplies and a little bit of effort. Just follow this simple guide and you’ll be on your way to a stain-free backpack in no time.

What You'll Need

  • A wet cloth or sponge
  • Mild detergent
  • Water
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda

Steps for Removing Tomato Stains From a Backpack

  1. Blot the stain with a wet cloth or sponge to remove any excess tomato.
  2. Mix 1 teaspoon of mild detergent with a pint of warm water. Dip the wet cloth or sponge in the solution and lightly scrub the stain.
  3. Rinse the stained area with water and dry with a clean cloth.
  4. If the stain persists, mix together equal parts of white vinegar and water and gently dab the stained area with mixture. Allow mixture to sit on the stained area for a few minutes before rinsing with water.
  5. If the stain is still present, make a paste out of baking soda and water and apply it to the stain. Allow the paste to sit for a few hours before wiping off with a damp cloth.
  6. Once the stain is gone, wipe the area with a damp cloth to remove any leftover residue.

These simple steps should help you remove any tomato stains from your backpack so you can keep it looking like new. Remember to act quickly when you notice stain, as any wait time can make the stain harder to remove.
