Start by blotting off as much of the excess tomato sauce as possible with a paper towel. Don't rub sauce into the fabric, as this will make the stain worse.
Mix together a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts cold water. Soak the stained area of the garment in this solution for 30 minutes. This will help to make the stain more soluble and easier to remove.
Massage a small amount of dishwashing liquid into the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes. This will help to break up the stain. Scrub the stained area gently with a soft-bristle brush or toothbrush. Rinse the garment in cold water and repeat the process until the stain has disappeared.
Once stain has been removed, launder the garment according to fabric's care instructions. Throw in a few extra tablespoons of white vinegar during rinse cycle to help lift any remaining stains and reduce odors.
Tomato sauce stains can be tricky to remove from wool garments, but with a little patience and natural ingredients, you can have your clothes looking as good as new in no time.
